Calvary Chapel Danville
Derek and Melissa helped out at Calvary Chapel in Danville Va. During this time they were able to help with the remodeling of a new location, outreaches, witnessing to locals, and training new ministry team members among other things.
Ukraine Shelter Construction
Derek went with a team to to Ukraine just west of Kyiv to help build temporary housing for locals who lost their houses during the war with Russia. While there the team was able to handout 300 mp3 players with the New Testament in Ukrainian on them, witness to locals as well as people they met during the travel, make contacts with local pastors which helped pave the way for future trips from CCL.
Missionary Help
Melissa went to Tbilisi Georgia to help a couple from Calvary Chapel Lynchburg in their ministry. While she was there she taught women and children’s Bible studies, witnessed to the various villages in the area, helped with organization of the food and clothing pantry and helped organize the office.
Church Repairs/Upgrades
We went to Roatan Honduras to help Calvary Chapel Roatan with repairs and upgrades to the church building. We repaired and painted walls in their children’s ministry, wired new lights and ceiling fans, repaired rotten stairs and other repair work that was needed. We also helped train the worship/tech team on how to use the sound equipment, volume control (not everything has to be played as loud as possible) and blending of instruments. The team taught in children’s ministry, witnessed to people in the surrounding community and encouraged the staff and congregation.
Flood Damage Restoration
In June/July 2016 we went to White Sulfur Springs WV to help with clean up from the massive flood that happened on 6/23/16. We were only able to go for a few days but while we were there, we were working to remove dead fish, wet insulation and other debris from the crawl space of an elderly couples house.
