Tranq is hitting Roanoke

Tranq is hitting Roanoke

From google:

“The street drug name “tranq” refers to xylazine, a veterinary tranquilizer not approved for human use.

Xylazine is being increasingly mixed into the illicit drug supply, most often with fentanyl and heroin. It’s sometimes called “tranq dope” when combined with those and other opioids. The combination of fentanyl and xylazine is considered particularly dangerous, increasing the risk of fatal overdose. Xylazine can cause severe sedation, slowed breathing, low heart rate, and wounds, including skin ulcers and abscesses that may lead to amputation.

It’s important to be aware that individuals using street drugs may not be aware that xylazine has been added to their supply.”

Several of the addicts we minister to are terrified of this stuff. We had one young man that we have been talking to about getting clean for several weeks come to us this week asking for help to get into detox and then hopefully rehab. His heroin had recently been laced with Tranq. He was covered in open sores, several of them already infected. He told us that he had to quit using, he had to get off the streets. We were able to get him to a place for help and hopefully he stays long enough to get that help.

Most of them know about Tranq (Xylazine) and they know they don’t want it. It may be what pushes some of them to get clean.

The majority of the rehab facilities we are referring them to are Christian discipleship programs that last between 6 and 12 months. They remove a person’s access to the drugs and let Jesus do the rehabilitation. Some of these facilities; along with intensive, Biblical discipleship, help the residents find jobs to learn a trade, teach them life skills like personal finance and help them get set up when they graduate.

We need your help to continue this work. We have no doubt that God provides everything, but He often uses people to give that provision through prayer, financial support and physically joining us on the streets.

It takes approximately $400 for each Tuesday outreach. That covers two slices of pizza, a couple of bottled drinks, a few snacks, basic hygiene items, Gospel tracts and Bibles for the 80-100 people we (usually a team of 6-8) minister to each Tuesday.  We don’t get to evangelize or pray with all of them. And to be completely and humbly honest, our funds are depleted. (We currently have half that amount in our ministry account) and most of our supplies are depleted as well.

We are just starting to see the tender buds of fruit in SER.

We won’t quit,  because God has not told us to do so. If He doesn’t provide the people, the finances or the supplies, then He doesn’t want us to have them. We will still evangelize and pray and listen and help with whatever resources He gives us.

So please join us in praying for God’s provision and guidance.

Pray against the enemies we are fighting ; the world, the flesh and the devil. God has put us on the front lines of this battle in SER.

Pray how you can join us in the fight for the souls of the people that live here.

We love you and may God bless you
