Buchanans in the Wild is a family ministry that has taken on a life of its own. It started as a way to update our supporters during my (Derek) first trip to Ukraine in September 2022 and has quickly evolved into and full 501C3 Christian Nonprofit.
My beautiful bride, Melissa, and I are missionaries to missionaries having spent time helping various missionaries internationally in Honduras, Ukraine, Tbilisi Georgia (the country not the state) and Manila Philippines.
We also do regional missions like helping to replant Calvary Chapel of Danville and Helping with flood relief in eastern Tennessee and western North Carolina.
Our local ministry “Rest For Your Soul” works in the community of Southeast Roanoke doing a weekly street outreach.
Our Mission
To encounter, evangelize and call to repentance the lost and broken, by following Jesus’ command and example of engaging in acts of compassion and service while sharing the Gospel of salvation, making a real, tangible difference in the lives of individuals and communities, both locally and internationally. Making disciples of all the nations. To equip the saints by coming along side brothers and sisters in the faith, locally and internationally, to help, to encourage and to build them up in the ministries that God has given
Our Beliefs
-The Bible:
Buchanans in the Wild believes that the Old Testament and New Testament are the inspired, inerrant, infallible and authoritative Word of God.
-The Trinity:
We believe in one God existing in three co-equal persons: the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit.
-God the Father:
We believe in God the Father, eternally existing, powerful and personal, just and
merciful, perfect in holiness and abounding in steadfast mercy and love; saving from sin
and death all who come to Him only through the work of Jesus Christ.
-God the Son, Jesus:
We believe in Jesus Christ, The Only Begotten Son of God, eternally existing with the
Father, equal in power and glory, come in the flesh, conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of
a virgin; in his sinless life, in His miracles and teachings, in His substitutionary
atonement on the cross, in his death, burial, and resurrection, in His ascension to the
right hand of the Father, in His perpetual intercession for His people, in His personal,
visible return to rule and reign over all creation.
-The Holy Spirit:
We believe in the Holy Spirit, eternally existing as God with the Father and the Son,
convicting the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and regenerating, sanctifying
and empowering for ministry all who put their faith in Christ.
-Salvation:
We believe that salvation is a gift from God, received through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.
-Prayer:
We believe in the power of prayer and practice it regularly.
-Holiness:
We emphasize personal integrity and the pursuit of holiness.
-Missions:
We are committed to the Great Commission, sending missionaries and supporting local ministries. Wherever God leads, we will follow. -Marriage:
We believe God instituted monogamous marriage between a man and a woman as the foundation of the family.
-Unity:
We strive for unity within the church, recognizing the importance of believers coming together in harmony
*As a parachurch organization/ministry, we maintain that doctrines outside of those listed above are
