Rest For Your Soul, Kensington and supplies needed.

Well Melissa left for Kensington today, she will be home late Sunday. So keep her and the rest of the team in your prayers. We found out that last week, one of the big drug gangs in that neighborhood were all arrested in a massive local, state and federal investigation. Unfortunately it probably won’t take long for a new gang to move in.

Yesterday we had our Rest For Your Soul  ministry in Southeast Roanoke. It was supposed to rain all day but once again God blessed us with good weather. It was a little cold, but we stayed dry so thank you Jesus for that. This time around instead of serving pizza we switched things up and went with hotdogs. We had ketchup, mustard, and chili to go on them. Apparently we need to start providing onions as well. We had lots of request. Lol.

It was quite a bit slower than most weeks. I’m guessing it’s probably some something to do with the weather, but we were able to have several good conversations. Melissa was able to join us at the outreach which she doesn’t usually get to join because of work but it was a blessing that she was there because there were two ladies that she was really able to speak to and pray with in a way that I wouldn’t been able to.

One of the ladies told us that several days ago, she had been raped on the Greenway there in SER along with five other women by the same two men. Unfortunately this happens frequently with the women in the homeless community. Her and  one other woman have the courage to step up and press charges. She told us that even though the men have been arrested, there have been threats by others made towards both of them because of they are pressing charges. We gave her information about different resources and our contact information so that we could try to help her get off the streets.

Our good friend and  webpage host and designer Alex T was able to come down from Lynchburg and join us as well. He works with a group of people in Lynchburg that also minister to the homeless there.

We are running very low on supplies and resources. With the weather getting colder, along with our usual items, we really need socks, hats and gloves. Unfortunately we logistically unable to hand out blankets, coats or other clothing (we really need a building, please pray for God’s will on that). We also need plastic grocery bags, lots of them.

If you would like to directly purchase supplies, you can do so at our Amazon store https://a.co/iHRhzQM
