-Cost They will bill regular insurance and Medicaid. If you qualify for Medicaid but don’t have it they will help you apply and bill Medicaid. Acceptance into the program does not depend on insurance or financial ability to pay. If you can’t get insurance to cover you will not be billed anything nobody gets turned away nobody leaves with a bill.

-Qualifications Case by case basis there is no set list of qualifications. For men and women, different facilities for each

-Requirements Must be 18 years old. While in program, must participate in job training and life skill training to prepare you for after your stay. Non smoking facility. No phones until you graduate the program and wish to stay on for phase 2. No vehicle. Family recovery process if you are married, but if unmarried no significant others can be involved

-Exclusions (i.e. Social security or disability payments, sex offender, certain types of prescription drugs, etc.) Medical and clinical director will deny if you have conditions above the level of care they can provide there. Other possible exclusions such as sex offenders and prescription drugs are on a case by case basis during the interview so there is no set yes or no answer

-Duration 6-8 months

-Do they provide transportation to the facility from rehab? No. But transport for medical appts or legal appts are provided after you get there

-Scholarships available? See cost section – nobody will leave with a bill

-Are residents required to work No outside job only the therapeutic work sites that are included in the program from 9-4:30 most days. The women’s work site is in Christiansburg at a thrift store and the men’s side depends on your skill, some painting and landscaping but other things available too depending on your ability and skill set. If you are disabled or unable to do off site work they can also work with that and keep you on site working on keeping things running at the facility

-Application Process Call to speak to an intake coordinator for an interview to see if you qualify. If so they set a date for you to come to the facility for an in person interview. If accepted you will move in immediately at the time of your interview. 

-Wait time to get in Case by case, there is currently a wait list of 25 people but the list doesn’t go in order. Your circumstance determines how fast you get in. Sometimes people bypass the whole line.

Additional Info: Family members can visit Saturdays and Sundays 1-6 pm. This program has a focus on including the family and helping with the family dynamic.

-Cost $700 total for one year program. Nobody is turned away for inability to pay, they are connected to donors who can sponsor people’s admission

-Qualifications Sex offenses and certain medications are disqualifiers but there are no specific qualifiers. Not a medical facility so whatever medicine and care you need get that taken care of before you come in they will not be taking people to routine appointments or getting new medicines. It is a vocational training facility. If unable to work they will help find another program. For men and women, different facilities for each

-Requirements Must be able to work. No drugs in your system. 

-Exclusions (i.e. Social security or disability payments, sex offender, certain types of prescription drugs, etc.) no SSI or disability payments, no sex offenders. Intake coordinator will work with clients who have legal proceedings and such to act as a liaison and take care of the reporting requirements during treatment so that client can focus on recovery. No drugs in your system no detox services offered. They will help you find a detox facility.

-Duration 1 year. Phase 1 – 4 weeks of learning recovery tools and getting those tools in use daily. Phase 2 40 weeks – full time vocational training and supported work is added, 40 hours a week plus phase 1 activities. Phase 3 – 8 weeks of added personal vehicle and cell phone privileges, added classes on success after the program, plus phase 1 and 2 activities.

-Do they provide transportation to the facility from rehab? In some cases they can help if a person is unable to get there on their own

-Scholarships available? Yes thru a network of donors 

-Are residents required to work? Must be able to work but not an outside job it’s all through the program

-Application Process Fill out application and then work with missions coordinator. You can also call the missions coordinator directly or fill out the application online. If you have to go to detox first sometimes the detox center will help get people set up.

-Wait time to get in usually immediately if a bed is open. As soon as you’re approved you can come.

-Requirements No specific age requirement. Medicare not accepted. Medicaid and insurance is accepted. Must be able to take care of one’s own personal care needs.

-Exclusions (i.e. Social security or disability payments, sex offender, certain types of prescription drugs, etc.) Income is not part of the acceptance requirements you can have income or not including SS and SSDI. Sex offenders may be ok on a case by case basis. No benzos, adderall or other controlled substances allowed in sober living portion, will help find alternative prescription.

-Duration 2 section program with initial intense program and then a stepdown program. Both combined are 4-6 months.

-Do they provide transportation to the facility from rehab? Transportation to sober living houses may be available but not guaranteed, based on where you are currently located. They provide transportation the whole time you are there just no to the facility.

-Scholarships available? There are some non profits they work with that cover some costs but not full scholarships. 

-Are residents required to work? During the first 30 days not allowed to work because of the nonprofits that cover portions of sober living cost. After 30 days allowed and encouraged to work but it is not required.

-Do they provide transportation to the facility from rehab? Depending on need it is possible but only if insurance would cover the payment.

-Scholarships available? The program itself does not have scholarships. If the person in need is a current or past gigging paid musician for a total of 3 years (does not have to be consecutive) of their life then musicares.org will sponsor them. Also can get in touch with outpatient representative Melod at 703-850-0352 to discuss other potential sponsors outside the organization. (Can also call him and they will send us some pamphlets)

-Are residents required to work? Work not allowed during the first phase. When you step down to the intensive outpatient program you can work. There is housing on site. If you want to stay in on site housing you have to work because you have to pay rent.

-Qualifications Detox must be done before coming here. This is not a medical based program so any major medical needs must be taken care of before coming to treatment. Routine medical care is not offered during the first 6 months of treatment and participants will only go to medical appointments in case of emergency.

Cannot bring money, no contact with romantic partners unless married, no electronics except a non-internet MP3 player with only Christian music on it. Limited communication with family only for the first 30 days, slow integration of other contacts on a case by case basis, usually one scheduled 15-30 minute phone call per week and ability to send and receive mail.

Review the guidelines (see link above) to get a real picture of what you are committing to. 3. Complete intake application. 4. Phone interview or in person interview to discuss application and eligibility. 5. Program directors meet and pray about whether or not the applicant is a good fit for the program. 6. During phase 1 no electronics, no secular media of any kind including reading material. Typically social security and disability is not allowed but case by case basis. No psych meds or anything that could be abused.

-Duration Phase 1 – 2 months, Phase 2 – 6 months, 8 months in total.

-Do they provide transportation to the facility from rehab? No. Rides are available during phase 2 for job placement or rides to work for $5.

-Scholarships available? Case by case. Sometimes they will loan the cost of phase 1 and allow you to repay that loan during phase 2 from your job.

-Are residents required to work? Phase 1 – as part of the program yes, but no outside job. Phase 2 – staff will help participants find a job outside of the facility and it is expected. They will pay rent during phase 2 from their job income.

-Scholarships available? Some financial assistance may be available on a case by case basis but not a full scholarship
