Hello everyone, we hope you and yours are doing well. We would like to ask you to join us in prayer about the possibility of getting a building for our Rest For Your Soul ministry in South East Roanoke.
What we are seeing for this space.
It is 1 block away from the corner where we currently setup. It is 1333 sqft at $1333 per month plus an additional $150-200 (estimated) per month for water, sewer and electric.
But it would provide us with a lot more opportunity to minister to the SER community like:
-Bible studies at least once a week
-A place to do discipleship/mentorship multiple times a week as needed.
-Serve meals after bible study (only to those who came to the Bible study)
-A place better suited for meaningful conversations with people out of the weather, away from the street noise and out of sight from others who might want to prevent them from talking to us (those being exploited and abused)
-A place to help people in need of available services navigating the process of applying for those services, all the while showing and telling them of the love of Christ.
-Access to a bathroom. Right now the only bathroom the team has access to is a 5-10 minutes drive each direction. That alone has kept a few people from volunteering.
-Saving the time and energy of having to load, unload, setup, tear down, load and unload tables, chairs, grill, propane tank, totes of bibles, tracts and supplies, coolers full of bottled water, canopy, etc.
Overall.
To be a brighter more frequent beacon of light in a community filled with darkness.
Having a building would also allow us to restructure some things, like the times of the outreach.
Ministering in SE on the corner after dark (think winter time when it gets dark at 5pm) is not something that I would recommend. Been there, done that.
But if we had a building, pushing the time of the outreach later so that more people would be off work and available to volunteer would not create significant safety issues.
I truly believe this is the next step for this ministry.
I am remaining faithful that He will provide what is needed. We would like you to join us in prayer.
Prayer for wisdom, discernment, guidance and provision.
The only way this will happen is if God provides for it. We don’t have an extra $1500 in the ministry budget every month. We don’t know about the zoning and other legal hoops that we would have to navigate. We don’t know if this will even work.
But God!
None of this is too big for my God.
