I apologize for the delay in sending out an update, it seems that we are in a very busy season right now.
We have not been able to figure out a pattern of who and how many come to our outreach on Tuesdays in SER. It doesn’t seem to be effected by weather that much, it may somewhat effected by whether or not it is close to the first of the month when government benefits are replenished but not much. If there is a pattern, I haven’t figured it out yet.
What I have noticed is, the heat definitely has effect on the people on the street. There is definitely more irritability and tension. There also seems to be an effect on their mental capacity and their ability to give and receive information. I don’t know if the heat exacerbates the effects of the drugs or just simply not having a way to escape the heat causes this. We had several people this past Tuesday that while trying to talk to them you realize that they just aren’t hearing anything you or anyone else is saying. There is definitely a real break down in communication.
Needs for the SER ministry:

- People to help on the team
- Gatorade has taken top stop over Sunny D for drinks
- Snacks
- Icy pops
- Socks
- Travel size sunscreen for the homeless
- Rain ponchos
