Upcoming Trip

Hello all. We hope everyone is well. Melissa and I would like to announce an upcoming trip to the Philippines in December.

It started with us being asked to spearhead a new ministry for Calvary Chapel Lynchburg. “Christmas in Summer” or so it has been dubbed. We partnered with Jaydon and Maddie Mook, missionaries from Calvary Chapel Lynchburg serving in Manila, for the first go of this endeavor. They have just open their Access Center for Youth and Children and we have an opportunity to provide brand new book bags for the 86 (with the possibility of more) children enrolled in the Access Center for Youth & Children in Manila. Each book bag will be sent with sneakers and white socks (which enable the child to attend public school!) – and will also include school supplies, an outfit or two, along with fun toys selected personally for each child.

This opportunity allows sponsors actively pray by name for a specific child’s needs as well as the needs of his/ her family. They will also have the opportunity to write the child a personal letter . Another key aspect is – this approach will provide many here at CCL the opportunity to actively come along side our missionaries and support their ongoing, weekly ministry of caring for these kids.

God willing, Melissa and I will be part of a team of 5 going to Manila in early December for a two week mission trip – where we will give the children training in skills, help with the center’s Christmas bash and help hand out the bags!

This will be the first overseas mission trip Melissa and I have gotten to go on together since Roatan Honduras in 2019. We are very excited about this and are looking forward to serving together in this capacity.

All of the children that we have received profile packets for already have sponsors and we shipped out 81 bags 6/24/2024 (it takes approximately 5 months to ship packages to the Philippines). The team will be carrying at least 5 bags with them in December. The dates have not been finalized yet, we will keep you posted.
