I apologize that there weren’t any updates while she was there. We will try to get something out as quickly as possible.
The Rest For Your Soul outreaches are continuing to go well. We know of a few people getting checked into rehab or the hospital for health issues.
I have been told of 3 trap (drug) houses being shut down in SER over the last couple of weeks which is wonderful news.
We are praying for God’s direction for the ministry as we get closer to colder weather. Please join us in that prayer.
We are also asking individuals, businesses, churches and other organizations to consider committing to reoccurring donations to the Rest For Your Soul portion of our ministry. This would give us a baseline which would open up some opportunities for us. Most importantly, the possibility of renting a space to do the outreach out of instead of on the corner.
This would allow us to incorporate; a Bible study, worship music, a larger assortment of supplies and activities, the possibility of expanding the outreach to multiple days per week, cooking meals for the people we are ministering to instead of buying food every week, a much quieter and calmer atmosphere to speak Christ to people, a more relaxed space where they can feel safe about opening up to us without worrying about their dealer or pimp seeing them, among other aspects.
We are trying to make this a sustainable, fruitful, long term ministry in this area. The only way you can change or improve a community is to change the hearts of the people involved the community. And the only one who can change hearts like that is Jesus. Our goal is to introduce this community to Jesus as much as possible by consistently showing up, building trust and relationships and above all else, boldly, lovingly and uncompromisingly speaking the truth of Christ.
