Hello everyone. Melissa and I hope you and yours are doing well. I just wanted to reach out to let everyone know what God seems to be (strong maybe) leading us to next.
For several years now, God has put a burden on my heart for S.E. Roanoke City. I have driven around praying over the people and community for at least 6 years, maybe more, but never sure of what I was supposed to do. Recently God has told me to start by going to the corner of 13th and Jamison Ave with food, drinks and the gospel. So we, along with our son Alex and a few others, will be going there, consistently, every Tuesday afternoon starting 3/18/25. We hope to have someone who plays guitar and sings join us.We have a couple of possibilities but no one confirmed yet, so please join us in prayer for that and the whole endeavor for that matter.
S.E. Roanoke has become a very dark place, lots of homeless, drugs, etc.. Our hope and prayer is through consistently being out there, we will start to build relationships, which will hopefully turn into opportunities to share truth and light to change a community one person at a time.
It is our firm belief that the Great Commission is about going out to the people, not sitting inside a building and waiting for them to come to us.
Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
We asking you to join us, physically if possible, but more importantly in prayer.
Prayer for God to go ahead of us and soften the hearts of those we will be ministering to.
Prayer for the words to say and the knowledge of when to say them.
Prayer for discernment.
Prayer for endurance for the team to maintain a consistant schedule.
Prayer for wisdom on the logistics. Prayer for safety of the team (physical and spiritual).
Prayer for people to come to salvation.
Prayer for the ability to properly disciple any who do come to salvation.
Above all else, prayer for God’s will to be done.
Feel free to post your prayers in the comment section, I know the team would be encouraged to see them.
I would also like to recommend a couple of books. “Radical” by David Platt and “Difference Makers” by G.Tyler Warner
As always, much love and God bless you all.
